Of Fart heads and Injustice

Well, this is my first year teaching in the same school for two years in a row, and so I get to see the children I taught last year, who are now third graders. A few boys come to see me every morning before they go to class. It's sweet.

Well, one day, Tyler came to get his usual hug before starting third grade, and he said, "I have to be honest with you, do you know Bob?" (I didn't know Bob- in fact Bob is the made up name because I don't remember the kid's real name, but that is insignificant to the story line). "Bob said that you were I fart head. But don't worry, I stood up for you, I told him Mrs. Compton is not a fart head, she is a really good teacher." Well, I thanked Tyler, reminded him that you can't insult somebody you don't really know, and he went on to class.

Later that day, our school secretary, Mrs. Johnson, saw me in the hall. She said Tyler had gone to the office that morning, and said to her. "Something has to be done about this, because Bob called Mrs. Compton a farthead, and she is not a farthead, she is the best teacher I've ever had." After Mrs. Johnson choked back her laughter, she told Tyler to tell the bus driver, and if it was still a problem to come back.
