I was watching the opening of the Red Sox game (why do stupid sports always have to get in the way of the Simpsons?) and they had a nice tribute to Ted Williams. I don't know much about him, but it sounds like he was an amazing athlete and made a huge impact otherwise (both in serving in 2 wars and helping establish the Jimmie Fund). It was kind of nice to see an athlete recognized for something other than a six-figure paycheck or simply physical ability. So the point of all this is, what qualities make a person a hero or someone worth emulating?
