The snow fell softly onto the ground as I drove up the hill, hoping my truck wouldn't fish tail anymore then it already was. I pulled into the Pouliot's driveway. We stepped out of the truck my shoes crunching against the packed down, driven over snow.

"That was fun.." Jamie said.

"Not nearly as bad as your hill"

"True"

I opened the door to the familiar house, tapped the snow of my shoes and headed upstairs.

"Wake up Joey" I said tapping on his door then I went over to Kristen's room. She was almost ready to go, Jamie plopped on the bed.

"So what's the plan" I looked at some of Kristen's paintings, they where pretty good.

"Let me call Jay" She grabbed a cell phone lying on the bed and dialed Jay's number.

Jay, I couldn't wait to see him. In the third grade we were best buds. Always talking about the latest ninja turtle action figure or sneaking into the basement to play with our dad's tools. It had been at least a few years since I had seen him last. He was a Junior in high school now and the last time I saw him Power Rangers were still on TV. So this was the plan; Me, Jamie, Kristen and Jay were supposed to go hang out somewhere go see a movie or to the mall or some jazz like that. It was snowy and the roads were kind of slippery. But nothing that bad. So all was good so far.

"Ok we are going to just drive up there and figure something out to do up there" Kristen said putting her cell phone back on the bed then opening her closet. "Where is my hat?" She fumbled through some clothes. Jamie got up and turned on the TV.

"Come on TV off, let's go" I said
"Joey is still in the shower" Jamie replied
"Where is my hat??" Kristen went through her closet some more

The clock in Joe's room flashed two. I wanted to get up there before it was dark and the weather was still decen to drive in. Jay lives in Derry by the way about 40 minutes away.

"Come on" I pushed and started walking downstairs.

"I don't like the sound of this" Kristen's mom chimed in scrubbing some dishes in the kitchen

"Mom" a look of frustration appeared on Kristen's face. "We'll be fine we are just going up there and are going to stay for the game around 7"

What was that? a game? I just wanted to hang out with Jay for a few, this was the first I heard of some game.

"Wait a minute now, a game?" I questioned her.

"Yeah that's the whole reason I want to go up in the first place"

"Now thats not very fair Kristen you want to stay for a game and Joe and Darrell don't?" Carol said again, her throat a little scratchy from the cold she had been fighting.

"Well we can take two cars" Kristen said "Joey you can drive too"

"No, I don't want two of you driving it'd be better if you take one car" Carol continued. "I don't like the idea of you staying up there until 7 either"

"Neither do I" I said. "I don't want to be up there until 7, it's only two, plus I don't even know the kid who is playing in the game"

"Well we can leave before the game ends"

"Ok so we would probably get home around 9, but i don't want to stay that late" The only thing I really wanted to do was just hang out with Jay.

"So we take two cars and you and joe can go home when you want"

"I don't know how to get there" Joe spoke up.

"Follow me" Kristen said. I almost laughed. I tried following Kristen the other night to drop someone off, she sped away and then when we met up again she told me she forgot that I was following her.

"You know what I don't care anymore, Joe you drive, let's go." I said going out the door. This was stupid. Now we had to take two cars in the snowy weather, Joe had to follow Kristen and they were planning on staying later then anyone wanted to in order to watch some kid I don't know play basketball.

We started dusting off our cars from the snow that had accumlated. I had to move my truck so Joey could get out of his driveway.

"I Don't even know how to get there, this is stupid why don't we take one car" Joe said.

"..Why the heck do we have to go to the game anyways? It's going to be dark, the weather is bad and I don't want to be out in Derry until 9 tonight" I said.

"Darrell, what's with you? why are you so worried about being out past 9, it's not like you have a life" Kristen replied, dusting off one of her windows.

What did she just say to me? Excuse me for wanting to do something different. I exploded.

"You know what then, why don't you and Jamie just go by yourselves! Joe and I will go get a movie or something. I can't believe you said that" I turned around and walked back into the house.

"Darrell......" Kristen's voice trailed off as I shut the door behind me.

Man I hate girls.
