Well, this is it folks. After countless days of pouring over books and material--after many sleepless nights spent cramming for what I thought were "Big exams"--the big day is finally happening.
Happening "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you."
Yes! It's Bible Bowl Time! We have been studying, cramming, procrastinating, etc. all year, and it's finally time to show what we've learned. This being my first year in Bible Bowl (and subsequently my first experience at Nationals), I'm not really sure what to expect. Judging from our experiences at KCC, the competition will be fierce, but not unbeatable. I am excited to share the experience with two very special groups of people. The first is all the people we're going to meet from other teams (yes, Kristen, I guess that includes Michael & Bobby). I am excited to hear about how their years went: how they found ways to motivate themselves to study, useful techniques for cramming, and any other experiences they had. The second is, of course, my beloved team. We have come so far this past year! It was definitely interesting figuring everything out. In the beginning we had so many people interested, that we thought we might have two full teams. However, as we all quickly learned, Bible Bowl is a very time-consuming commitment. Soon we were down to just Darrell & Kristen (our veteran "Aces") and Jamie Sue and myself (the "Rookies"). With Darrell covering the Once Used Words and Kristen nailing all of those tricky Twice Used Words, it was up to Jamie to cover the Concordance (have you seen how big that thing is?!). I was told, "Well, just memorize everything" haha! But between Jamie and I, we can nail any Concordance Bonus or Specialty Toss-Up around! (plus some of the keyword ones). I would like to congratulate each and every one of my teammates for the outstanding job they have done this year! It has been such a joy to get to know each of you a little better as well as learn God's Word with you. And thank you to Steve also (even though I know he won't read this). He dedicates so much time! Just remember guys...
