Ok, they've done it again... Have you ever noticed how stupid our government can be sometimes? I dunno, maybe you can help me out here, Rob. I was watching TV and this news program had a show talking about our defense against missiles and how the President is trying to keep a "Pearl Harbor in Space" from happening. Basically he's saying that he does not want other countries to sneak up and attack us from space like they did at Pearl Harbor. So the rest of the program procedes to go into great detail on this place out in the desert in southwest U.S. They gave the name (which has escaped my memory at the time), and showed a picture of it. Then they took you on a nice little tour and showed you how it was designed: all the special features and protections on everything from earthquakes to nuclear fallout to...well you get the point. Inside this amazing structure are hundreds of computers tracking not only any missile or other object that might be launched, but also the orbital patterns of all objects around the earth that are the size of a pencil or larger. The show summarized by saying that all this great technology is what helps make America the Number 1 country in the world today and what also makes it the country to beat if you want to get in control.
So all this brings up my little question: What Do They Think They're Doing?! Am I missing something or is our country completely dense? After seeing that lovely presentation which is certainly accessable to anyone who wants to see it, I have a pretty good idea of how to build a great shelter to aviod every major disaster as well as what America does to monitor the world & how I could sneak around those systems. I mean, I know when Sadam Hussain was at war with us he got all his updates for planning his next tactical moves from watching CNN. And I'm sure if the leaders of China or Russia don't already know this, they'd just have to wave a bunch of money around to find out. But still... Any thoughts on this?
