A Hoosier Moment
By Hannah Marie Fernsler

This weekend marks a momentous occasion in the lives of almost every American in the United States. On Saturday night, most Americans will search out all the clocks in their house, and change the time. It’s a little too “back to the future” for my tastes. Now dear New Englanders, and fellow Johnsonites, I know what you are thinking… but if I had a nickel for every time someone talked about little children waiting for the school bus, I'd have a lot of gumballs.

Many people have told me that Hoosiers are just too dumb to handle the whole “fall back, spring forward” clock technique, but the problem is not with our intelligence. Who gives us the power to change the time anyway? What if though today is Friday, I just decide that I want tomorrow to be Sunday? OK everyone change your routine and skip Saturday this week. Don’t worry, we will have two Saturdays in six months. See what I mean... it’s loony, folks.

I, for one, am proud to live in a state that doesn’t conform to the pattern of daylight savings time.
